Description

This project aims to investigate the relationship between diet, microbiome composition, and response to standard-of-care treatment in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma (NDMM) patients. Stool samples from 150 NDMM patients will be analyzed alongside dietary data collected through interviews. These findings will be correlated with metabolome biomarkers using serum mass spectrometry. Patient-derived results will be validated in an immunocompetent MM in vivo model. The study seeks to develop a workflow for predicting response to anti-myeloma therapy. Additionally, preclinical interventions will explore how specific nutrients affect MM treatment response. Overall, this research aims to elucidate the mechanisms underlying diet-microbiome interactions in MM treatment response, potentially leading to personalized nutrition interventions for cancer patients.
